Nolvadex (Tamoxifen)

Nolvadex is used to treat breast cancer in women and in men (especially after castration) and also when it has spread to other parts of the body, kidney cancer, melanomas and sarcomas of the soft tissues with estrogen receptors, cancer of the ovary.

Use Nolvadex as it is prescripted by your doctor.

• Nolvadex it is taken orally together with meal or without.
• Take Nolvadex, washing down with water or other fluid, free of alcohol.
• Even if you have felt improvement in some days, continue to take a medicine. Do not miss intake of Nolvadex, take Nolvadex daily in same time.

Nolvadex - a drug of antiestrogen series. The mechanism of action of Nolvadex is based on blocking of estrogen-effect on tumours, helping to prevent growth of the tumours caused by influence of an estrogen.

In the case of missed dose, take Nolvadex as soon as it will be possible, do not take more than 1 dose at once.

Nolvadex should be stored at temperature near 68 - 77 degrees by Farenheit (20 - 25 degrees C) in densely occluded container. Store a medicine in protected from humidity, high temperature and bright light place, out of reach of children and domestic animals.

Do not use Nolvadex if:

• You have an allergy to any of components of Nolvadex;
• You use Nolvadex at prophylaxis of a cancer of a mammary gland, and in your anamnesis there is a thrombophlebitis in lungs or feet;
• You take anticoagulants (for example, warfarin);
• You take anastrozole.

• Nolvadex can reduce quantity of cells forming thrombi (thrombocytes) in your blood. Do not make actions which can cause a bleeding or hematomas.
• Nolvadex can lead to immunodefence weakening. Contact to people which have cold or other infectious diseases is contraindicative. Consult with your attending physician if have found infectious disease symptoms such, as a fever, angina, a rash on integuments, or a fever.
• Before an initiation of treatment with Nolvadex women should pass gynecologic survey, survey of a breast and a mammogram.
• Do not use hormonal control over birthrate in the course of treatment with Nolvadex as it can be inefficient. Use not hormonal contraceptives (for example, condoms, a diaphragm) during sexual intercourse during treatment with Nolvadex and within 2 months after the terminal.
• During course of treatment it is necessary to carry out laboratory analyses, survey of a breast, a mammogram and gynecologic surveys, complex blood analyses, and analyses of function of a liver for control of a state of the patient or check on side effects.
• Do not take Nolvadex during pregnancy and at feeding by a breast as Nolvadex injury can cause injury to a foetus. It is possible to plan pregnancy not earlier than 2 months after the terminal of course of treatment.

During treatment with Nolvadex following insignificant side effects are possible:

• Paroxysmal sensations of fever;
• Ostealgia;
• Constipation;
• Tussis;
• Vaginal discharge;
• Weight loss;
• Pain in muscles;
• Nausea;
• Weariness;

• Fever, constant pharyngalgia; dark urine; the pathological menstrual seasons; a pathological vulval bleeding; a stethalgia; the reduced sexual desire; depression; a dyspnea; a stomach ache; attacks of a subitaneous strong headache, a pain in an inguen or a pelvic pain; appetite loss; coordination loss; the missed menstrual season; the new or enlarged tumour of a breast; new or unusual tumours; a skin ecdysis; chronic weariness or weakness it is necessary to seek urgent medical aid.

Nolvadex is to be used only by the patient for whom it is prescribed. Do not share it with other people.
