Drug UsesAmoxil is used for treatment of the infection deseases caused by microorganisms which are inclined to influence of Amoxicillin. To such infectious diseases may be refered an inflammation of a middle ear, tonsils, throats, larynxes (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis), lungs (pneumonia), genitourinary paths, the integuments, some venereal diseases (for example, a gonorrhea).
How to useIn case of the majority of infectious diseases amoxil is prescribed to the adult on 250 mg each 8 hours, 500 mg each 8 hours, 500 mg each 12 hours or 875 mg each 12 hours depending on kind and severity of disease.
At treatment of a gonorrhea the dose makes 3 g and is taken once.
At the majority of infectious diseases children are more senior 3 months in weight less than 40 kg take over Amoxil about 25 mg/kg/day in several doses each 12 hours, 20 mg/kg/day in several doses each 8 hours, 40 mg/kg/day in several doses each 8 hours or 45 mg/kg/day in several doses each 12 hours depending on kind and severity of disease.
Drug Class and MechanismAmoxil belongs to antibiotics of a penicillinic series.
All antibiotics of the current series possess the similar mechanism of action. The drug does not destroy a bacterium, it interferes with reproduction of bacteria, interfering with formation of a cellular cover which protects bacteria from external environment. Absence of a cellular cover leads to death of a bacterium.
Amoxil it is effective against various bacteria including N. influenzae, N. gonorrhoea, E. coli, Pneumococcuses, Streptococci, and certain strains of the Staphilococcus.
Missed DoseIf you have missed taking of Amoxil during course of treatment, it is necessary to take a drug as soon as possible. If this moment has coincided with the next planned intake, than it is possible not to take it at all and return to a regular schedule as 2 doses are not recommended to take at once.
StorageTo store capsules of Amoxil as well as the dosed on 125 and 250 mg dry powder is necessary at temperature with 20 degrees or below (68 degrees by Farenheit); tablets, chewing tablets just as the dosed on 200 and 400 mg dry powder at temperature below 25 degrees C (77 degrees by Farenheit).
Warnings/PrecautionsBefore starting to take Amoxil, report to the attending physician if you have an allergy to Penicillinum or a cephalosporinum.
Before the beginning of course of treatment it is necessary for you to inform the doctor on the medical history, especially if it concernes with: illness of kidneys, other infection deseases (for example, a mononucleosis). Amoxil can contain aspartame.

Possible Side EffectsSide effects can appear in the form of a nausea, vomiting or a diarrhea. In case of appearance any of these effects or their long action it is necessary to report about it to the attending physician.
Also Amoxil can cause a time staining of teeth which can be removed by regular toothbrushing.
In case of appearance of any of these very seldom encounering, but very serious side effects immediate consultation of the attending physician is required:
- dark urine, constant nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, yellowing of eyes or a skin, appearance of hematomas or a bleeding, constant sore throat or a fever.
After treatment by Amoxil during several weeks intestinal disorders (like a pseudomembranous colitis), caused by steady microorganisms can sometimes appear.
Do not take a medicine for a diarrhea or narcotic analgetics at occurrence of following symptoms as these medicines can lead to their intensifying: a persistent diarrhea, an abdominal pain / a muscular spastic stricture of a stomach, blood or slime in excrement.
Long treatment by Amoxil or its repeated use can lead to disease with oral thrush, an oral or vulval mycosis.
In case of appearance of white maculae in a mouth, changes in vaginal discharge or similar symptoms immediate survey of the doctor is required.
More InformationDo not use Amoxil for treatment of other infectious diseases without consultation of the doctor. In these cases other treatment can be necessary.
